Reservoirs Technology
CID unique technology for drug delivery consists in the presence of reservoirs on stent outer surface, containing drug, able to provide a sustained released overtime. The stent strut is dig on the outer surface to create unique reservoirs. The stent is Carbofilm™ coated. (The overall stent surface, including reservoirs, is Carbofilm™ coated).
Drug reservoir locations have been selected according to an homogeneous mapping designed through the use of the finite element analysis (FEA) to guarantee a uniform distribution of the drug into the vessel tissue, and to optimize the mechanical properties of the stent platform. their existence on the stent struts does not affect stent radial force and flexibility.
Versatility of reservoirs allows for a greater control of the total amount of drug released over time and release kinetic.
